Making the News
The grand opening of the Seymour Center at Long Marine Laboratory attracted
widespread media attention, including articles in the Sacramento Bee, Monterey
County Herald, San Jose Mercury News, Santa Cruz County Sentinel, Metro Santa Cruz,
and Good Times. Broadcast coverage included radio stations KSCO and KUSP and
TV stations KSBW and KION.
Kevin Cashen of Media Services was on KUSP's First Person Singular
discussing the invention the wheel and the possible connection between wheels and
the thrill of speed that feeds mindless aggression.
Psychology's Craig Haney was interviewed by a crew from A&E Television
for a report on conditions in supermaximum security prisons.
Barbara Rogoff of psychology and Daniel Press of environmental studies
appeared on KUSP's Talk of the Bay show last week to discuss narrative evaluations.
Associate professor of biology Pete Raimondi was quoted in the San Luis
Obispo Telegram-Tribune in a story about the biological impacts of the Diablo
Canyon nuclear power plant. Raimondi is a member of a technical team reviewing data
on the effects on marine life of the plant's cooling system.
