Instructor, UCSC students fill gap in arts funding

A Watsonville charter school faced with funding cuts for its arts program is getting a helping hand from UCSC students. Tandy Beal, a choreographer, performer and theater arts instructor at UCSC, is serving as a mentor as she sends her Art, Education & the Community students into the school’s classes with lesson plans about art. "Tandy is a master teacher and she provides solid support," said Principal Sue Forson of the Watsonville Charter School of the Arts. "My arts funding was severely reduced. This costs my school nothing. It’s a gift." (More)
