Instructor, UCSC students fill gap in arts funding A Watsonville charter school faced with funding cuts for its arts program is getting a helping hand from UCSC students. Tandy Beal, a choreographer, performer and theater arts instructor at UCSC, is serving as a mentor as she sends her Art, Education & the Community students into the schools classes with lesson plans about art. "Tandy is a master teacher and she provides solid support," said Principal Sue Forson of the Watsonville Charter School of the Arts. "My arts funding was severely reduced.
