Program puts graduates on fast track to teaching

photo of two graduatesSummer is graduation season for the 115 students who completed UCSC's intensive program to earn a combined master of arts in education degree and a teaching credential. "It's a whirlwind," said one graduate at the commencement ceremony in the Upper Quarry Amphitheater. By speeding up the credentialing process without sacrificing the quality of preparation, UCSC is setting the standard in teacher preparation, said Joyce Justus, chair of the Education Department.
