January 22, 2001 Appointments Donna Gerardi Riordan Donna Gerardi Riordan is the new special assistant to the chancellor for higher education and science policy. She will act as campus liaison with local, state, and national scientific societies and educational associations and provide high-level support to the chancellor on issues of science and higher education policy; in relations with public, nonprofit, and corporate leaders in science, technology, and higher education; and with various special projects. She comes to UCSC from the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in Washington, D.C., where she was most recently a senior adviser for science education and web development. Prior to that, she was the director of the Office of Public Understanding of Science at the NAS. She has a B.S. in biology and an M.A. in science, technology, and public policy.
