Michael A. Troncoso's Biography
Michael A. Troncoso was appointed Chief Campus Counsel for UC Santa Cruz in April 2014. Prior to joining the University, Mr. Troncoso served as principal legal counsel and chief of public policy in the California Attorney General's office, where he directed overall legal strategy and priority matters across all practice areas. Earlier in his career, he practiced complex litigation at Morrison & Foerster LLP in San Francisco and prosecuted white-collar criminal cases as a trial attorney in the San Francisco District Attorney's office. He also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J. Spencer Letts of the United States District Court in Los Angeles.
Mr. Troncoso's background includes extensive experience in constitutional law, technology, compliance, consumer protection, and environmental law matters. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of San Francisco La Raza Lawyers and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
